Switzerland
Switzerland is a small country in central Europe. It has a population of 7 million people. The total area of Switzerland is 41,000 square kilometres. It is visited by 10 million tourists every year. The capital city of Switzerland is Bern. Switzerland is an international hub for business, tourism and international trade. Switzerland is famous for its beautiful tourist attractions. There are four official languages used there - German 74%, French 20%, Italian 4% and Ronantsch 1%.
Some of the best known chocolate and cheese brands are made in Switzerland. There are many big cities there such as Zurick, Geneva, Bern, Lausanne and Basel.
The education system in Switzerland is one of the best in the world. It starts in kindergarten, which is compulsory, and continues until a student finishes university. Every child MUST attend elementary school. After finishing the elementary school, a student can start an apprenticeship to work as a mechanic, a carpenter, a baker, a hairdresser or another profession.
Swiss-made products are known for their high quality and elegance. The Swiss army knife is famous all over the world but nowadays cheap imitations are produced in other countries like China , Thailand, India and Korea.
Switzerland also produces the best quality chocolate in the world. Chocolate factories in Switzerland keep their recipes secret so that factories in other countries can't produce similar products.
Swiss watch makers include Rado, Omega, Piaget, Continental and many more. Some of these watches cost thousands of dollars to buy and are normally sold at selected jeweler's shops. Cheap imitations of these brands cost the Swiss economy billions of dollars every year.
About 40,000 weddings take place in Switzerland every year normally between June and September. During that time, business booms for restaurants and reception places. Many guests celebrate a wedding with cakes, drinks and a big party.
