Melbourne is one of the biggest cities in Australia. It has a population of 3.5 millions. It is the sports capital of Australia. Melbourne is a multicultural city. This means that people from different parts of the world live in it. Melbourne has some of the biggest universities in Australia. There are tens of thousands of overseas students who choose to study in Melbourne every year. Those students mainly come from China, India and the Middle East. They bring more than one billion dollars to the Australian economy every year. International students often come to do post graduate studies. Some of them study at TAFE colleges too. TAFE colleges provide technical courses. At the end of these courses students get a diploma. A diploma takes two years.
There are many things you can do when you are in Melbourne. You can go to visit different sites or you can spend your time on the beach. Melbourne has many sandy beaches. The most famous beach is the one in St. Kilda. It has many restaurants to choose from. It has a craft market every Sunday.
The Australian Open is held every year in Melbourne. It is one of the four grand slam tennis tournaments in the world. Famous tennis players come to Melbourne to play at the Australian Open.
Melbourne also has different big shopping centres. The biggest ones are located in Chadstone and Doncaster.
