Writing a Recount

This post is for my Certificate II students at AMES in Box Hill

You will be asked to write a recount as part of your English course at AMES. A recount is a story that happened to you. You need to tell us where, when and how it happened. You need to tell us how you felt and give additional details. Your writing should be coherent. Make sure that your grammar is correct and that your sentences are connected.

You can write about many things such as:

Your first day in Australia

An excursion that you went on

A happy day in your life

A bad experience that happened to you

I expect you to use some of the following:
First of all................... – after that ................ – soon after that  ............... – later on .................. because  - In addition to that, .............. – moreover, ................. – lastly, ............. – In the end ................
You will also need to use adjectives.
Examples are:
a sunny day – nice weather – a loud noise – quiet streets – a clean city – some delicious food – a tall person – happy day – late night – a nearby restaurant
Now try to write a recount about a story that happened to you. You don't have to use facts. I am only interested to see that you write correct English. Use as many of the words above as you can. If you have any questions, talk to me in class.
