Finishing the Hospitality Course

After you finish your hospitality course at AMES, you will have different options to choose from. The first choice is to try to get a job straight away. Getting a job is the main aim why students choose to do this course. If you don't want to get a job because your English is not good enough, you are WRONG. Everybody's English in class will allow them to work easily.
Another thing to do is to go and do a course in hospitality at TAFE. Box Hill TAFE is one of the best TAFE collages in Melbourne. You will pay $1.38 for each hour you study there. International students pay 20 dollars per hour. See how lucky you are because you live in Australia?
You can do different hospitality courses at TAFE. You can choose to study for a short time or do an apprenticeship. In an apprenticeship you study and work at the same time. Many restaurant owners like to employ people who are have done an apprenticeship in hospitality.
Studying at TAFE is all hands-on. This means that you will listen to some instructions and then go and do a certain job. They have commercial kitchens there to give you an idea of how it is like to work in a hotel or a big restaurant.
If you want to get Certificate III in Hospitality, you need to finish 16 moudules. This will take you 9 months of full-time study. Your English needs to be very good because you will study with students who were born in Australia.
You can also try to get a job in a different field. You can work as a factory hand or in any other position. The information you learn at AMES will help you get ready for different jobs.
If you find it difficult to get started looking for work, go online. Visit employment web sites and do your search for work every day. Work on improving your resume and gain more qualifications. The more skills you have, the easier for you to find work. Ask your friends how they got their jobs. also ask them if there is a chance for a job opening at their workplaces.
Kitchen hands get about 17 dollars an hour or more. They work in teams and each one does a certain job.
In Australia people work very hard. Most of them have more than one job. Many people also change jobs every couple of years. They keep looking for better job offers and go through many interviews.
Working in a kitchen is different from working in other jobs. You stand up most of the time and have to work fast and once you finish one task, you find that another is waiting to be done. Most restaurant work is done in the evening. Some shifts sometimes go for 4 hours only.
If you send one resume to an employer, don't expect that person to get back to you straight away. The best thing to do is to send your resume to as many places as you can. I have had many students who had poor English and they ended up getting jobs in hotels and in other different places.
Work will keep you busy and you will get to meet new people. Every day you will learn something new about Australia.
