His parents had a reptile park in Queensland. Later on in his life people called him the Crocodile Hunter. This was also the name of his most famous TV show. He took over the park in 1991 and named it Australia Zoo.
He was a big name on TV around the world. He appeared on TV shows in America and Europe and people loved to see his shows because he was doing dangerous things. His wife appeared on the show too. He used to handle dangerous snakes and come too close to dangerous animals.
One day he did a dangerous act when he held his young son and came too close to a crocodile. People watched it on TV and said he shouldn’t have done so. They said he put his son’s life in danger. He said he was sorry but he told people he never put his son’s life in danger. He added that he was a professional crocodile hunter and knew what he was doing.
One day in 2006 when he was filming underwater, he was attacked by a stingray and bled to death. He was taken to shore but it was too late to save his life.
